Little Lake MusicFest: Trooper, rock, part of concert series at Del Crary Park, George St. at Little Lake, at 8:30 p.m. Admission is free. Bring a lawn chair or rent one for $3 (limited number available to rent).
Art: Armand Tatossian exhibition at Gallery on the Lake, 3 km east of Buckhorn on the south side of Hwy, 36, opening reception from 1 to 4 p.m. The exhibit continues to Aug. 28. 657-1108.
Norwood Flyball weekend: Hot Diggity Dogs Flyball Club is hosting this weekend from July 31 to Aug. 1 at the old Norwood Arena. Teams from all over Ontario will be there to compete with their dogs. There will also be a fun Skyhoundz Disc (Frisbee) match for the competitiors and their dogs Sat. at 6 p.m. on the high school field. Admission is free.
Music: Westben Concerts at the Barn, 6698 County Rd. 30, Campbellford, presents Sultans of String at 2 p.m. 2008 instrumental group of the year at Canadian Folk Music Awards, perform Latin, gypsy-jazz, Middle Eastern and folk rhythms. Caygeon Carnival: From 10 a.m. to 4 p. m. at the Kawartha Settlers' Village, 85 Dunn St. in Bobcaygeon. Guess the weight of real pig, make butter, three-legged races, log sawing and other games. Admission is by donation; rain or shine event.
Book signing: Neil Campbell and The Brown Dog Jiggs signing at Chapters, Lansdowne St., for book Cell Phones and Sap Buckets: Six Years on Sapsucker Ridge, 1 to 3 p.m.
Art: Three exhibitions with Vantage Points featuring the work of Peterborough artist Peer Christenson and Lakefield artist Marilyn Goslin; Blueprints of our Past - Roy Studio Cyanotypes; and From Monet to Modigliani – A Child's Immersion in Art, at the 250 Crescent St. Summer hours are Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and weekends 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Art: The Blue Tomato Art Shop, 168 Hunter St. W., presents an exhibition of works by Bronson Smith and John Boorman in their Upper Gallery until July 30. 740-1039.
Museum: Peterborough Museum and Archives presents Off To the Lake: Images from Summers Past, uses photos from the Balsillie Collection of Roy Studio Images to step back 100 years in time to the Edwardian era, highlighting cottage life at the turn if the last century; runs until Oct. 3. View the exhibit weekdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; weekends and holidays, noon to 5 p.m. The museum also has extended hours in July and August, open until 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday evenings. Admission is by donation.
Theatre: Until Aug. 7 Globus Theatre presents The 39 Steps, Broadway's longest running comedy, at 8 p.m. at Lakeview Arts Barn, 2300 Pigeon Lake Rd., Bobcaygeon. Tickets are $26.50 for adults, $20 for students; dinner and show tickets are $56.50 for adults, $50 for students. 705-738-2037.
Rockhound Gemboree: July 29 to Aug. 1 The 47th annual Rockhound Gemboree from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at North Hastings Community Centre, 103 Newkirk Blvd., Bancroft, Canada's largest gem and mineral show with more than 110 dealers of mineral specimens, gemstone jewelry and lapidary supplies. Gold panning booth, rock and mineral talks with geologists, a swapping area, a mineral display and expert mineral identification services and geologist-led mineral collecting field trips. Exhibition: What in the World is a Canoe? At the Canadian Canoe Museum, Monaghan Rd. Runs until Feb. 28, 2011. Entry is included with general museum admission.
Art: In High Performance: How to Play in Syncronicity will be presented at Artspace by Robert Hengeveld, Nathalie Quaglitto and Douglas Back until Aug. 27. The exhibition is open Wednesdays from noon to 6 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays from noon to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 2 to 6 p.m. The gallery is at 378 Aylmer St. N. 748-3883.
Wild West Weekend: July 31 and Aug. 1 The second annual Coe Hill Wild West Weekend at the Coe Hill Fairgrounds, on Hwy. 620. Events include food concessions, horse games, children's games, exhibits, arm wrestling, shooting gallery, panning for gold, fast draw competition, petting zoo, pony rides, parade, bank robbery re-enactment, jail break, costume contest, and jackpot barrel race with a dance in the barn to the Faron Brown Jr. Band. On Sunday a pancake breakfast at the barn, trail ride for horse club members, country church service and bingo in the barn. Admission is $10 daily per person, children 12 and under free. 10th annual Andy Calder Antique Tractor Pull and Show; at 91 5th Line Rd. in South Dummer. All proceeds go to the War Amps. The event begins at noon. A potluck supper will be held at 6 p.m. and all are invited. From 7:30 to 9 p.m. lawn tractor pulls will be held and a food booth will be available. General admission is by donation and those entering the competition will be charged a $10 entrance fee. For more information please call 639-5240.
