Art: Three exhibitions with Vantage Points featuring the work of Peterborough artist Peer Christenson and Lakefield artist Marilyn Goslin; Blueprints of our Past - Roy Studio Cyanotypes; and From Monet to Modigliani – A Child's Immersion in Art, at the 250 Crescent St. Summer hours are Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and weekends 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Art: The Blue Tomato Art Shop, 168 Hunter St. W., presents an exhibition of works by Bronson Smith and John Boorman in their Upper Gallery until July 30. 740-1039.  

Museum: Peterborough Museum and Archives presents Off To the Lake: Images from Summers Past, uses photos from the Balsillie Collection of Roy Studio Images to step back 100 years in time to the Edwardian era, highlighting cottage life at the turn if the last century; runs until Oct. 3. View the exhibit weekdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; weekends and holidays, noon to 5 p.m. The museum also has extended hours in July and August, open until 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday evenings. Admission is by donation.

Theatre: Until Aug. 7 Globus Theatre presents The 39 Steps, Broadway's longest running comedy, at 8 p.m. at Lakeview Arts Barn, 2300 Pigeon Lake Rd., Bobcaygeon. Tickets are $26.50 for adults, $20 for students; dinner and show tickets are $56.50 for adults, $50 for students. 705-738-2037.

Rockhound Gemboree: July 29 to Aug. 1 The 47th annual Rockhound Gemboree from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at North Hastings Community Centre, 103 Newkirk Blvd., Bancroft, Canada's largest gem and mineral show with more than 110 dealers of mineral specimens, gemstone jewelry and lapidary supplies. Gold panning booth, rock and mineral talks with geologists, a swapping area, a mineral display and expert mineral identification services and geologist-led mineral collecting field trips. Exhibition: What in the World is a Canoe? At the Canadian Canoe Museum, Monaghan Rd. Runs until Feb. 28, 2011. Entry is included with general museum admission.

Art: In High Performance: How to Play in Syncronicity will be presented at Artspace by Robert Hengeveld, Nathalie Quaglitto and Douglas Back until Aug. 27. The exhibition is open Wednesdays from noon to 6 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays from noon to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 2 to 6 p.m. The gallery is at 378 Aylmer St. N. 748-3883.

Film: A film on homeless families is to be featured at the Youth Emergency Shelter's (YES) annual general meeting at the Millennium Park display room starting at 6:30 p.m. The 20-minute documentary, Life on the Edge, was conceived and directed by award-winning filmmaker Andree Cazabon. There is no charge for admission. The Millennium Park display room is located on the Otonabee River at the foot of King St., next to the Silver Bean Cafe.

Music: Three legendary music tribute artists are set to play the Gordon Beach Resort on Rice Lake. Gino Menopoli as Elvis, Ginny McIimoyle as Patsy Cline and Bernie Jessome as Roy Orbison. The cost for lunch and show is $35 at noon with dinner show at 6 p.m. costing $50. Show only will be $25. Special accommodation packages are available at the resort at 905-342-5366. There will be a hot and cold buffet at noon and a full dinner at 6 p.m.

Music: July 29 and 30 Westben Concerts at the Barn, 6698 County Rd. 30, Campbellford, presents Lovin' Dat Hammerstein! at 2 p.m. A salute to Hammerstein on the 50th anniversary of his death. Music: Bobcaygeon Music Council presents Concerts in the Park with Trillium Treble Choir / New Horizons Swing Band at the Gazebo at Lock 32. Trillium Treble Choir begins at 5:30 p.m., adult concert at 6:30 p.m. with the New Horizons Swing Band. Free admission. Bring a chair or blanket.

Concert: Concerts in the Park, Bobcaygeon, continue with Trillium Treble Choir with Stella terHart at 5:30 p.m., followed by New Horizons Swing Band at 6:30 p.m. at the gazebo at the lock.

Cruise Night: Cruise Night at the Buckhorn Community Centre, 1801 Lakehurst Rd., bring your antique car or appreciate someone else's. 5 p.m. to dusk. Barbecue and rock 'n' roll music. (If it rains, this event is cancelled).

Farmers market: Lakefield Farmers' Market opens and will be open from 2 to 6 p.m. every Thursday through Oct. 14, with extended hours during the summer. Located beside Isabel Morris Park and the Lakefield arena, it is close to the Otonabee River waterfront.

Bake sale: Keene and Bailieboro libraries hold a bake sale every Thursday during June and July to raise money for a trip to the Toronto Zoo for the kids in the TD Summer Reading Program.  Donations of baked goods are welcome at any library the morning of the sale.  

Open house: Energy Farming open house re: Settlers Landing and Snowy Ridge Wind Park, 5 to 8 p.m. at Pontypool Community Centre, 254 John St.
