HAVELOCK–BELMONT–METHUEN TOWNSHIP–A 38-year-old man from Lithuania is dead following a possible drowning on Methuen Lake Monday afternoon.

Peterborough County OPP said the man was staying at a cottage and was kayaking on the lake.

He was discovered floating face down in the water by his friends at about 4:28 p.m.

Police said he was wearing a life jacket.

He was dragged to the shore and CPR began immediately, police said. He was taken to Campbellford Hospital by ambulance, but pronounced dead on the way to the hospital.

Police aren't releasing his name at this time.

A post-mortem is taking place Tuesday (July 27) to determine the cause of death.
